Congrats to Chef TJ Hicks for a flawless evening with RVA Pop Kitchen's "It's a Southern Thing," a pop-up dinner!
We were ecstatic for the opportunity to be involved with this project, providing headshots, promo + event photography, and social media + promo poster & flyer + menu design; we'll call it event branding. Hosted by RVA Pop Kitchens and Gallery5 (Virginia's oldest firehouse—how cool is that?!), this locally grown and southern-inspired dinner to benefit FeedMore was the first of many. Be sure to follow their Facebook page for updates on future events.
Until next time, feast your eyes upon some of the photographic evidence from It's a Southern Thing below!
Many thanks to the sponsors, participants and volunteers!

With one last promo photo session before the event, Chef TJ Hicks ran through a couple courses for the sake of presentation. I was there to document with both my camera (and tummy!).

Keep your eyes peeled around RVA for these promotional posters! Especially for events, we love the idea of juxtaposing brand-appropriate photography and carefully arranged graphic elements to create strong visual interest; enough interest to keep a bystander lingering and learning, absorbing the important details.

Four courses including wine pairings for each
Entertain your eyes with the Gallery, "Pop Patriot" by Austin Fitch
And serenaded by live music with Donny Ray

During an evening of chess at Gallery 5 in Richmond's Historic Jackson Ward District, I was introduced to TJ Hicks, Executive Sous Chef at McCormack's Big Whisky Grill. TJ was excited to share his ideas regarding an upcoming project, a pop-up kitchen featuring local, Virginia cuisine, and I immediately wanted to get involved. Visions of classic, vintage-inspired typefaces and the warm, rich palette of Southern cooking danced in my head.

And your chef for the evening, TJ Hicks.
